What your First Date Says to Women

The choice for a first date tells a woman everything about a guy, but don’t assume that means you have to take her to the most expensive restaurant in the City. That first date tells women how creative and spontaneous you are. It gives her an idea if you’re into her or whether you just had nothing better to do. Sure, we wonder about the final bill, but what is more important is how much thought you put into taking us out.

Women read into clues and messages you send based on that date location. How much time did you spend picking out the place? Does that dive bar have character? Is the restaurant popular or exclusive? Did the crowd make us feel comfortable or underdressed.

Girls talk about our dates. We also trade notes with each other. Here is some insight into those conversations to help you pick your next first date spot.

Date Spot: A Fancy Restaurant

A fancy restaurant with flowers seems like a typical perfect night but it is extremely generic to go romantic and pick a setting out of some awful romance movie. A fancy restaurant tells a woman you are trying too hard, and it can be unnatural. Although it is nice to have intimate conversation to get to know each other, it puts a lot of pressure on conversation your first time alone. This could leave a lot of room for too early conversations; such as friends, family, or the worst bomb, ex boyfriends. Most importantly your creative side has merely lacked. If you try too hard, a woman will take it as you are egocentric.  None of these qualities interest a woman. Don’t get me wrong, having conversation is really important but maybe too much is just much on a first date.

Spot: A Club or Lounge

A first date at a nightclub tells a woman this guy might be fun, but he’s just not into you. Your chance of any alone time or conversation was thrown out the window with the first line you stand on (or don’t stand on). It will most likely turn into a lot of awkward introducing and extra drinks, unnecessary on a first night. Showing off how many people you know or how much money you have on a first date is a huge red flag. For example proving how hooked up you are at a club just shows your fear of intimacy and lack of commitment and in turn probably a cheater.

Spot:  A Museum

A museum gives the idea that the guy you are with has a strong cultural interest.  It is good that he shows you he has any interests at all. It is just enough entertainment for light conversation but maybe a little less face to face interaction. Although it maybe a little slow paced it shows you don’t mind an educational experience and moderate conversation. It’s important to keep things flowing during your first date and with new things around every corner keeps this on a comfortable level. Your date spot doesn’t have to be completely outrageous to be entertaining. A museum tells a woman you’re confident in your mind and you value education. It also says you are laid back and can have fun doing anything.

Spot: A Sporting Event

Sports can be fun if you’re with the right guy on a date. It has a lot of happy people and a great vibe. It’s not the fanciest of places but it’s comfortable for conversation. It also shows a general interest in going out, maybe having a beer and buying a couple memorable souvenirs. Who doesn’t like a T-Shirt? It’s also appealing to see a man with interest in something, as long as the event doesn’t become soley about the sport and the attention is focused on your date, a sporting event can be just the right amount of personal and it shows you don’t mind spending a little bit of money.

Spot: A dive bar

A dive bar is going to give a woman the impression that you don’t put much thought into her or the date. A night out with the boys and a night out with your girl should be separate. At one point the two may migrate but not the first night. This tells a woman you’re not much for ideas and you probably don’t put much thought into anything. No woman has a memorable night at a dive bar with her shoes sticking to the beer saturated floor. A dive bar shows you are kind of cheap, you don’t have much care for a relationship and you are looking for a good pal.

Activities on a date are always a great way to show a part of who you are and keep the flow of the night going. Picking something that portrays your character is great because it gives a little bit about yourself. If you pick something that isn’t you it will be extremely apparent and ruin the date.
