The Viagra Cocktail

Can a bartender make you a drink that makes you feel relaxed or nervous or horny? One mixologist bragged to the New York Times that he can create drinks that will alter your state in more ways than absinthe or perhaps even, Viagra.

“I can make you hungry. I can add ingredients that will make you spend money,” said Alex Ott, a mixologist who bragged about his secrets to the New York Times. Ott claims he has been doing research on the famous Druidic recipes that work even better than the famous Spanish Fly. For those men who skipped being a teenager, the Spanish Fly reportedly has powers that can make any woman want your body. (Though based on my research as a teenager, it doesn’t work. Neither do those famous comic book ads that promised to turn me from a wimpy skinny guy into a muscular man overnight, but that is another article).

This story finishes with the reporter detailing how the mixologist created an aphodisiac drink. The reporter wrote: “I’m going to seduce you now,” he said, reaching for a baggie of loose-leaf damiana tea, known as “lover’s herb.” He brewed it in hot water, let it steep and then mated it, over ice, with an unlikely pair of partners: single-malt Scotch and a swig of German raspberry syrup.

Did it work?
