The Allure of Time

If I had to describe man’s most powerful creation, I would say it is the clock. For with time, everything must come to an end. And I don’t think that’s right. Why should two lines on our wrist dictate where and when and how and why we should go? Why can’t we just enjoy each moment until it is over, according to its own frame of mind? If you want to spend more time at the park, then stay. If you want to stay up all night, then do it. Put away the watch, toss it in the trash and walk away.

It can be done, and ironically, those with the cheapest watch find this easiest to do. They seem to have established the least resistance to the material world of time created in our minds.

I want in so many ways to try that myself, but I know even here in a foreign land, on foreign time, I have deadlines to meet. But wouldn’t it be great if just for a moment, we could just ignore time? I just caught myself looking at my watch. The deadline is here and I must go. Yet I still have so much more to say. Many more thoughts need to be expressed. It’s too early to go, I say to myself. But I know if I wait another minute, my moment may be gone. And with that, I may miss the chance where time is supposed to take me.
