You have to pay the price if you want to have a sexy body. And in New York, the cost is usually double.

Gym memberships are not cheap in the City. A one-month gym membership in New York is more than a year’s membership in many other cities. Equinox now charges $179 for one month, while Bally’s advertises a $99 annual membership during various times of the year. New York Sports Club charges $86 a month to visit one location.

But don’t assume you have to spend the winter months and humid summer days running outside. There are affordable gyms in the City. You just have to look. 212Access did the research for you and here are some of the most affordable gyms around the city. Best part, they are in different neighborhoods so there is an affordable gym somewhere near you.

Planet Fitness Health Club (158 W. 27th St New York, NY 10001)

Made for the everyday person to come break a sweat. The price is dirt cheap without the dirt. Membership is as little as $10 a month. Nice treat for members free pizza the first Monday of every month and free bagels and coffee the first Tuesday of every month.

Boom Fitness (1438 3rd Ave New York, NY 10028)- A monthly membership is between $14 and $20 a month. Every cardio machine comes equipped with a TV so you can workout and watch favorite show. Boom Fitness also has classes in the morning and evening to fit your schedule. The gym is also open 24 hours during the week and 8am t 8pm on weekends.

Blink Fitness- (E 4th St at Broadway NY, NY 10012) – This gym is located downtown, so it’s convenient to lots of neighborhoods and nearly every subway. But Blink Fitness doesn’t come with the typical downtown expensive price. A monthly membership is $20 a month.

Chelsea Recreation Center (430 W 25th St NY, NY 10001) – The gym has every amenity that the big expensive gyms offer, but without the big price tag. It has a pool, weight room, ping pong center, basketball and classes. A yearly membership is $75 membership, which breaks down to $6.25 a month. It also sells a one-day pass for $10.

Groupon and LivingSocial Specials (Throughout Manhattan) – Keep a close eye on these flash deals. We just saw a 6-month membership inside a Midtown hotel gym for only $59, which is less than $10 a month. We tried it out and it’s actually a nice gym with cardio and free weights.

Asser Levy Recreation Center 392 (Asser Levy Place New York, NY 10010)- This is your standard gym that meets your every need. The center has a weight room, cardio room, indoor and outdoor pools and most important it’s convenient. Annual membership is $150 or $12.50 a month.

Tony Dapolito Recreation Center (1 Clarkson Street New York, NY 10014) This gym is small but it has everything you need to whip yourself into shape. It has standard weight rooms, a pool and classes like zumba, yoga and spin. Annual membership is $150 or $12.50 a month.

Recreation Center 54 (348 East 54th Street New York, NY 10022) This gym lets you work out on the fly or continue with a routine. It has treadmills, elliptical, steppers as well as free weights. Annual membership is $150 or $12.50 a month.

Hansborough Recreation Center (35 West 134 street NY, NY 10037)- This recreation center has swimming and even swimming lessons for those who never learned to swim. This exercise can shake up your workout a new water routine. It also offers classes like zumba and belly dancing classes. Those are free classes so take full advantage. Annual membership is $150 or $12.50 a month.

Quick Fitness (16 Eckford Street Brooklyn, NY 11222) Even shy people can work at Quick Fitness. The customer at this gym is your every day guy, not your typical gym rat. You can take yoga, spin, and sculpt classes here as part of your membership. The facilities are kept clean and it has a steam room. The cost is monthly to monthly about 75 but worth with the use of personal trainers.
